Who Are We?

Taxminimizer is owned by Frank Farrell who does business as an Enrolled Agent, an Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant and a Registered CA Tax Preparer. He comes to the Central Oregon Coast after spending nearly 40 years in Southern California; the last 16 working as a tax accountant. Our office presently overlooks Alsea Bay in Waldport.

An Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant is required by law to pass a rigorous written examination concerning Federal and Oregon Tax Law and must maintain that knowledge with annual continuing education. This license is required of all Oregon self-employed tax preparers.

An Enrolled Agent is appointed by the U.S. Treasury Department after extensive study and testing of the applicants knowledge of Federal Tax Law. Continual continuing education is required and additionally they must undergo and pass a background examination and conduct themselves according to professional and ethical standards established by the U.S. Treasury Department. Only three types of practitioners can represent a taxpayer in the event of a disputed tax liability that results in collection activity by the IRS. The three are: CPA's, Tax Attorneys, and Enrolled Agents. The Lawyers and CPA's don't necessarily specialize in taxes as do the Enrolled Agents. Due to their knowledge and experience and because they are "admitted to practice before the IRS", EA's are uniquely well suited to represent taxpayers in conflicts with the IRS.
